This walk is perfect for an autumn day

Today's Sandstone Trail walk begins just down the road in Manley Common, and moves through the autumnal avenues of Delamere Forest, resplendent in the final weeks of its lovely ambers and golds.

There is some space to park along the side of New Pale Road in Manley Common. This lane is named after the New Pale, an area of open land which is a remnant of the old hunting forests of Mara and Mondrem, favourite stomping grounds of the Earls of Chester from as early as the 11th century.

Cllr Poulton has been honoured for his contribution to local and national charities and community groups

Frodsham Town Councillor, Mallie Poulton has been honoured with the High Sheriff's Award for his 'great and valuable services to the community'.

The High Sheriff of Cheshire, Nicholas Hopkinson MBE DL, made a special visit to Frodsham to bestow the honour on Cllr Poulton, who has represented Lakes ward since 2015.

Remembrance Day commemorations will be looking very different this year

With the new national lockdown now in force, the small church service which had been planned by St Laurence's to mark Remembrance Sunday has now been cancelled.

However, in commemoration of those who were lost during First and Second World War, as well as more recent conflicts, the Rev Elaine and the Rev Andrew Amison will be pre-recording an Act of Remembrance for 11am on Armistice Day (Wednesday 11th November).

Zan and Evie Stanton have been making Christmas decorations to raise money for the NHS

A local mother and daughter have set about creating and selling Christmas decorations to raise money for the NHS during lockdown.

Zan Stanton and her daughter Evie, who is only nine years old, have been busy making wooden snowman, Santa and reindeer decorations for local people to buy, with 50% of profits "going to our amazing local NHS workers to thank them for everything they do."
