A local mother and daughter have set about creating and selling Christmas decorations to raise money for the NHS during lockdown.
Zan Stanton and her daughter Evie, who is only nine years old, have been busy making wooden snowman, Santa and reindeer decorations for local people to buy, with 50% of profits "going to our amazing local NHS workers to thank them for everything they do."
This inspiring project is just another day at the office for Zan and Evie, who raised a whopping £2,000 for local health workers over the spring.
"We decided to start fundraising during the first lockdown," Zan says.
"Evie was obviously off school and I was shielding but working from home, so we wanted to do something nice for the NHS workers and care home carers that were risking their lives at such a scary and uncertain time.
"We raised £2000 in 17 days selling rainbows from a table at the bottom of our drive." This money was then donated personally to 38 local NHS workers and carers as a thank you gift.
Zan works as a teaching assistant at Evie's school, and all the other staff and pupils were so supportive of their project that they decided to begin fundraising again for Christmas.
"The children at our school will even be helping us with the making of the decorations!" Zan says.
The decorations – priced at £1 each - had been on sale in local beauty salon, Care Love Pamper, but now that lockdown is upon us, Zan and Evie will continue to sell them from their house in Manley.
If you would like to buy one of these lovely tree decorations, please send Zan a direct Facebook message to pre-order. She will then be able to leave your purchase in her post box ready for you to collect it.
