The site has been deemed unsuitable for the construction of a testing site

Construction work on the walk-in Covid-19 testing centre at the back of Frodsham Leisure Centre, which was due to open in the next few days, has been abandoned.

Cheshire West and Chester Council informed Frodsham Town Council that the entrance road was flooded by this week's heavy rain, and that the contractor had said that the site was not suitable.

Yesterday (Monday 2nd November), it was confirmed that avian influenza - or bird flu - had been found at a premises near Frodsham.

All 13,000 birds at the farm, which produces hatching eggs, will be humanely culled to prevent the disease, which is of the H5N8 strain, from spreading.
