Frodsham Town Council Planning Committee has objected to an application lodged by Pure Retirement Living (Frodsham) Ltd. and Morbaine Ltd., seeking to redevelop scrubland to the rear of Moor Lane to provide a four storey apartment building for retirement living.

At a meeting on Monday 21 June, members of the public expressed their concerns about the proposals, which would involve a 69-apartment complex, 57 car parking spaces, a communal lounge, wellness studio, laundry room and mobility scooter store.

Cllr Bill Stockton has been elected as the Chair of Frodsham Town Council's Planning Committee for the second time.

The Committee voted unanimously to keep Cllr Stockton in the role, which he assumed in August 2020.

Frodsham Weaver Vale Primary School has been recognised for its family and community work through an award from the Investors in Families (IIF) initiative.

This national scheme celebrates the work carried out by schools to engage with families and improve outcomes for children and young people.

Brio Leisure's Frodsham Leisure Centre will be receiving an £110k investment from Cheshire West and Chester Council, allowing it undertake some much-needed improvements.

According to the Council, the project, to be delivered by Qwest, will ensure that the building remains fit for purpose and central to improving the health and wellbeing of the local community.  

A new consultation has been launched by Cheshire West and Chester Council to look at how adult learning disability and autism services are provided in the borough and how they can be improved.

Cheshire West and Chester Council and NHS Cheshire Clinical Commissioning Group want to hear from people with learning disabilities and/or autism, who are 16 years of age and over, their families and carers.

Another casual vacancy has arisen on Frodsham Town Council, this time in Waterside ward.

This comes as a result of the resignation of independent member, Lord Frank Pennington, who sat on the Council for 45 years and served twice as Frodsham's Mayor.

Frodsham and Helsby Libraries have (almost) returned to their pre-Covid opening hours, with some small changes still in place in the former.

In the week leading up to June 16, there were 20 new coronavirus cases recorded in Frodsham, Helsby and their surrounding villages.

Of these infections, six originated from Frodsham, where the rolling rate sat at 65 per 100,000, well below the Cheshire West average of 141 per 100,000.
