If you take a wander through Robert Gleave Garden Centre, you might notice that a new business has popped up in amongst the roses and geraniums.

Cheeky Ice Cream, opened earlier this month by Martin Owen, sells all the ice cream varieties you could wish for, from Magnums to Soleros to classic scoops from award-winning producer, Marshfield Farm.

And if you need to avoid dairy, why not sample a Cheeky sorbet or plant-based ice cream?

Even with all these tempting options on offer, many of Martin's customers find themselves unable to resist his signature dish: Mr Whippy sundaes built atop wafer 'boats' to cut down on plastic waste.

Whether you're a Mint Madness enthusiast or a fan of Caramel Chaos, Martin is happy to create the perfect combination for you, complete with flakes, biscuits, honeycomb or brownie. You name it, he has it!

And I know - from experience - that these delicious sundaes are an essential on warm summer days.

"Opening Cheeky Ice Cream at Gleave's has been a bit of an adventure," Martin says. "There is still lots to do but I think it's going to be great.

Martin has also taken over Cheeky Ice Cream's next door neighbour, the Willow Tree Café, which serves a select menu of breakfasts, wraps, sandwiches and bagels.

"We've already had a good response so far, and are starting to see a lot of the same faces. So we're obviously doing something right!" Martin adds.

While Cheeky Ice Cream has definitely proved popular with Frodsham residents, it is perhaps even more of a hit among the local dog population, who are big fans of Marshfield Farm's Scoop Dog ice cream.

With no lactose and reduced sugar, this frozen vanilla treat is full of the vitamins that help to keep dogs healthy and happy.

"Every dog that tries it loves it," Martin says. "They won't take their nose out of the tub once we give it to them!"

Now that Cheeky Ice Cream is up and running, Martin would like to begin organising family events such as barbecues for local people to enjoy on pleasant summer evenings.
