In the week leading up to June 16, there were 20 new coronavirus cases recorded in Frodsham, Helsby and their surrounding villages.

Of these infections, six originated from Frodsham, where the rolling rate sat at 65 per 100,000, well below the Cheshire West average of 141 per 100,000.

Meanwhile, the remaining 14 cases occurred in the area covering Helsby, Kingsley, Manley and Alvanley, making for a rate of 151 per 100,000.

In the past seven days, 551 people have tested positive for Covid in our borough, which is an increase of nearly 40 per cent on last week.

The good news for our area is that case numbers were seen to be declining in all areas of Northwich and Winsford last week, suggesting that the surge in infections created by the Delta variant may have reached its peak.

Turning our attention to the vaccine rollout, this week, the Chester Racecourse Vaccination Centre moved to Ellesmere Port Civic Hall, having inoculated 100,000 people against the virus.

In all – as of June 17 – 855,181 eligible Cheshire residents have received at least one dose of a Covid vaccine, with nearly 40 per cent of 25-29-year-olds already vaccinated.
