Runcorn Rowing Club are planning a virtual escape from lockdown to raise money for their new boathouse.

The club aims to row, paddle, run, walk and cycle the 16,521km to Runcorn in Brisbane, Australia, in order to raise £10,000 towards the planning application for its new clubhouse.

This will include a much needed gym, boat storage facility, changing and community social area, for which the full cost of planning and architects' fees will total approximately £50,000.

The different rowing squads will compete to cover the most miles as they plan to reach the beach for a virtual Christmas party.

Runcorn Rowing Club, located just across the River Weaver from Frodsham, has been established since 1894, and its members row on the River Weaver Navigation up to Dutton Locks.
