UPDATE: Body recovered in river search for missing teenager

Officers searching for a missing 16-year-old boy in Frodsham have found a body.

The body was recovered from the River Weaver at around 11.30am today (Tuesday 20 July).

Formal identification has not yet taken place but it is believed to be that of the missing boy.

The teenager's parents have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

Superintendent Alexander McMillan, from Cheshire Constabulary said: "This appears to be a tragic accident and our thoughts are with the boy's family at this difficult time."

Anyone with any information in relation to the incident is asked to call Cheshire Police on 101 quoting IML 1041072.
