How has Frodsham changed over the last century, and how has the town been mapped differently over those years?
Thanks to a feature on the National Library of Scotland website we are able to see for ourselves.
The site allows you to compare how the UK is mapped today compared to dozens of other maps from the past, with the oldest maps available for comparison dating back to the 1880s.
Looking at Frodsham, it's clear that the area's natural features - the Marsh on one side and the hills on the other - have prevented the town's shape from altering too drastically in the intervening years.
However, what we can see is Frodsham's evolution from a village to a town, following the gradual acquisition of many houses, a few supermarkets and a motorway.
If you would like to create your own map comparisons of Frodsham or anywhere else in the country, visit the National Library of Scotland website here.
Many thanks to Frodsham and District History Archive for the map used in this article
