Horn's Mill Primary School say 'No!' to the mow to help protect our local bees

Horn's Mill Primary School in Helsby is asking parents and local residents to say 'No!' to the mow this May, to offer a helping hand to our bees, butterflies and other wildlife.

This comes as part of a campaign by conservation charity, Plantlife, which is encouraging individuals and councils to leave wildflowers to grow on lawns and verges to support their local bee life.

At the end of the month, those taking part will be invited to take part in the annual 'Every Flower Counts' survey, through which each household can discover how many bees their lawns can feed.

At Horn's Mill, each class will be competing to reach the highest 'nectar score' and attract as many bees as possible.

Some of the children will also be making 'scare-MOWS' to keep those pesky lawnmowers away!

You can find out more about the No Mow May campaign here.
