It's Friday: Frodsham Hero day!
This week, we wanted to celebrate the work of a group of people, who were nominated for their selfless work in the community throughout the coronavirus pandemic.
Frodsham and District Open Hands group was set up during the first coronavirus lockdown, when Frodsham Churches Together and Frodsham Town Council teamed up with a group of local volunteers hoping to help those who found themselves isolated due to the pandemic.
Volunteers would - and still do - nip out to fetch a prescription, post a letter or do some shopping for those who couldn't leave their homes, as well as carrying out regular phone calls with local residents in need of support.
The local resident who nominated the Open Hands volunteers said: "I have worked closely with this amazing group of people for the last few months and have been blown away by their passion and dedication to support hundreds of local residents.
"The group of volunteers have been operating around 15 months providing shopping and prescription collections, I have heard so many wonderful things from people who have used their service saying how responsive and lovely they all were.
"As well as the actual errands, they have been working so hard behind the scenes to operate the service which has involved lots of admin, Zoom meetings and other community engagements!"
Thank you!
