Frodsham's Weaver Words Festival will be opening this year with an evening with multi award-winning British poet, writer and broadcaster, Michael Symmons Roberts.

Michael is the author of eight poetry collections, four books, dozens of Radio 4 dramas and feature and a BBC 4 verse film called Men Who Sleep in Cars, described by The Observer as "a work of genius".

On Wednesday 1 September, Michael will be reading from his poems, including his most recent collection 'Ransom', Costa and Forward prize-winning 'Drysalter' and Eliot prize-winning collection 'Mancunia', which re-imagines Manchester as a real and mythic city.

To fit with this year's festival theme of 'Edgelands', Michael will also draw from his non-fiction book of the same name, which explores the liminal spaces between urban and rural environments.

You can find out more about the festival here. To book your tickets, please visit the festival website.
