Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, has outlined the government's 'road map' out of lockdown to the House of Commons.

During his briefing, Mr Johnson said: "We're setting out on what I hope is a one-way road to freedom."

If all goes well, restrictions could be lifted completely by June 21, although there will be five weeks and a series of reviews between every stage of the easing.

The planned stages of reopening are as follows:

From March 8 - All schools will open with outdoor after-school sports and activities allowed.

'Recreation' in a public space - such as a park - will be allowed between two people, meaning they would be allowed to sit down for a coffee, drink or picnic.

Care home residents will be able to nominate one regular indoor visitor, but they must remain socially distanced.

From March 29 - Outdoor gatherings of either six people or two households will be allowed. This will include gatherings in private gardens.

Outdoor sports facilities such as tennis or basketball courts will reopen and organised adult and children's sport, such as grassroots football, will also return.

People will no longer be legally required to 'stay at home', although they should continue to work from home where they can and try to minimise travel.

From April 12 – Non-essential retail, hairdressers and nail salons will reopen.

Pubs and restaurants will reopen their outdoor settings for up to six people from different households. The 10pm curfew will not be returning.

Indoor leisure facilities will reopen, along with self-contained holiday lets, but only for single-household groups.

Zoos, theme parks, libraries, museums and drive-in cinemas will reopen, but you will only be able to visit them with members of your own household.

May 6 – By-elections for Frodsham's Lakes and Waterside wards, as well as the Cheshire Police and Crime Commissioner election, will go ahead.

From May 17 – Up to six people – or two households – will be able to visit the indoor spaces of pubs and restaurants.

Up to 30 people will be able to meet outdoors, including in beer gardens, as the rule of six comes to an end in these settings.

Cinemas, hotels and some other venues will reopen. Up to 10,000 fans (or one quarter of capacity) will be allowed back into bigger stadia, with up to 1,000 (or half of capacity) at indoor venues.

Up to 30 people will be allowed at weddings, funerals, wakes, receptions and christenings.

June 21 – This is the earliest date that all limits on social contact could be removed, and life could return largely to normal.

After this time, nightclubs and large-scale events will hopefully be able to return.
