Paediatric services in Frodsham and Helsby to continue as normal amid confusion over service-provider

Paediatric patients in Frodsham and Helsby 'will continue to receive consistent' care, according to the NHS Cheshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG).
The assertion comes following service-providers Bridgewater Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust telling the CCG 'that it would be serving formal notice on its contract for the provision of community paediatric services' in December, with provision set to end on March 31.
However, it was recently revealed that the CCG is yet to receive formal notification from Bridgewater, leaving paediatric patients in an uncertain position.
A spokesperson for the CCG said: "No formal notice has been received by the CCG from Bridgewater Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust at this time. Children and Young People in Frodsham and Helsby will continue to receive consistent community paediatric services.
"Ongoing discussions will continue with all providers of community paediatric services across Cheshire to ensure that high quality services are commissioned for all children within Cheshire."
Currently, the Trust provides community paediatric, occupational therapy, and physiotherapy services for Frodsham and Helsby.
The issue of uncertainty was brought up at the CCG's most recent governing body meeting on January 21.
Although the issue was not discussed by members in detail, a July 2020 report 'identified some concerns relating to the delivery of these services and highlighted the actions taken to address these issues, together with an assurance process to monitor the services currently in place'.
Bridgewater Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust was contacted for comment by the Local Democracy Reporting Service.
