Frodsham MP Mike Amesbury enjoyed being quizzed by primary school children interested in finding out more about the census.

Mike was put through his paces by pupils from Frodsham St Luke's Catholic Primary School who have been doing a project on the national survey that happens every 10 years.

The MP, who was 'interrogated' via Zoom, said: "It was lovely way to spend the morning and there were some brilliant questions.

"Some of questions were more taxing than the ones you hear in Parliament!"

Mike, who lives in Frodsham with his family, added: "We talked about how the census is used to help organisations plan services such as transport, education and healthcare.

"So we were discussing how if the population of Frodsham went up we would need more community resources like health facilities. If the elderly population increased there might need to be more houses adapted for people with limited mobility."

Referring to recent public concerns about the future of Frodsham Leisure Centre, Mike continued: "One child said 'Are we going to be able to keep our leisure centre?'. I said 'Don't worry, I will help you with that one!'. I'm determined the town has first class leisure, community and library facilities."

By law, all households must complete the census this Sunday (or as soon as possible after).
