Not-for-profit community initiatives based in Frodsham and Helsby could soon benefit from grant funding, thanks to a Cheshire West crowdfunding project.

More than £82,000 has so far been raised through donations from the Council, the Westminster Foundation and other local organisations and individuals.

£20,000 of this total has already been awarded to community initiatives including Chester's Soul Kitchen and Age UK Cheshire.

Future grants will focus on key priorities like food poverty, isolation and befriending services, mental health support, older people's services, support for children and young people and financial hardship.

A panel, including representatives from Cheshire West Voluntary Action (CWVA), will review the application forms and turn them around as soon as possible.
