Today (Wednesday 25th November), members of Frodsham WI will be wearing white ribbons in support of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.

Frodsham WI have also produced 60 white ribbons to distribute among leading community figures, who, they hope, will help raise awareness of this cause.

According to Refuge charity, average weekly calls and contacts to the National Domestic Abuse Helpline for England and Wales have risen by 65% since March.

Visits to their website - where people can request a safe time to be contacted - have increased by 950% compared to 2019.

On any given day, Refuge services support over 7,000 women and children who have experienced Domestic Abuse. That's an increase of over 500 people from the same time last year.

White Ribbon Day is coordinated by the global White Ribbon movement, which works to engage with men and boys, encouraging them to make a stand against male violence towards women.

If you think you can help spread the word, why not wear a white ribbon today?

For more information on how to get involved, visit the White Ribbon UK website.
