Concern over new restricted parking sign on track to popular Snidley Moor

Frodsham residents have raised concerns about road safety and accessibility around Manley Road, after a sign was put up banning 'unauthorised vehicles' on the track towards Snidley Moor from Shepherd's Cottage.

Snidley Moor, with its beautiful woodland, is a favourite destination for local walkers, horse riders and cyclists alike, with users having parked their cars at the end of this track for decades.

In recent years, a lay-by was created to allow vehicles to park while leaving space for farm equipment moving along the lane.

During the national coronavirus lockdowns, the track, which is part of Bridleway 21A, has grown busier, with some users parking along its narrower top end.

This has resulted in an increase both in litter and in unwanted congestion around the neighbouring houses.

Recently, it seems that a collision was narrowly avoided between a horse and a vehicle pulling out onto Manley Road.

Those who use the track to access Snidley Moor are now concerned that the signs will prompt drivers to park on Manley Road itself, creating blind spots for passing vehicles and therefore making accidents more likely to occur.

One resident, who visits Snidley Moor regularly via this track, told Frodsham Nub News: "At a time when we are being urged to get fresh air and exercise away from others, it seems wholly unfair that the many should be penalised by the actions of one."
