Castle Park Arts Centre and café reopens today, giving visitors a chance to explore its 35th Annual Open Exhibition!
Ranging over a huge variety of styles, media and subjects, this exhibition has been formed from the work of amateur and professional artists from across our region.
Using collage and felt work, watercolour, acrylic and ink, the pieces journey across the world, reflecting a rich collection of people, places and encounters.
Our personal favourite is the misty landscape of On Halkyn Mountain by Patricia Phillimore, whose wistful blue hills are offset by a brilliant amber sun.
Now that the Arts Centre is open once again, you will also be able to see the exhibition's winning pieces, which include Sophie Parr's Gorse Up on the Bank and Peter Cunningham Ward's Leave Me Alone.
The artworks chosen as Highly Commended by the three independent judges were Sarah Morley's drawing Chinese New Year, Nerissa Cargill Thompson's Dark Green Sprawl, and Wynford Andrews' Taking the Applause.
Keep an eye out for these lovely pieces as you wander through the galleries!
The Open Exhibition will now run until 17th February 2021, with a Christmas break between Wednesday 23rd December and Monday 4th January.
The Arts Centre will be open as usual between Tuesday and Saturday, 10am to 4pm. The Courtyard Tea Rooms will also be reopening with a reduced menu, but still offering all your favourite cakes!
All of the pieces on display are for sale. If you are interested in purchasing any of the exhibits, you can find out more by visiting the Arts Centre or emailing Kim at [email protected].
