Three young members of the 1st Helsby Scout Group are to be presented with the prestigious Chief Scout's Personal Award, in recognition of their brave stand against antisocial behaviour.
The recipients of the Personal Award are chosen by the Chief Scout himself, Bear Grylls, for a significant achievement or contribution to the community.
In September of last year, Scouts Oscar, Blake and Caleb chose not only to report acts of vandalism to the emergency services, but also to confront the perpetrators themselves.
"There are plenty of adults who would have reported it but not intervened," said 1st Helsby Scout leader, Fiona Barry, who nominated the boys for the award.
"From what I understand, the people involved were older than [Oscar, Blake and Caleb], so it was a courageous decision, as with no adults around they were quite isolated."
Mersey Weaver Scouts added: "We are incredibly proud of the actions of the three boys – their character exemplifies our Scout values and they deserve the recognition.
"They are huge credit to Scouting in Helsby and Mersey Weaver as well as their local community."
The boys will now appear on the Mersey Weaver Scouts roll of honour 2021, and will hopefully receive their certificates, letters and badges during a Covid-secure presentation in the new year.
Well done Oscar, Blake and Caleb!
