Helsby Reserves played top of the League Cestrian Alexandra FC yesterday (10th) in the CWFL Olympic Trophy Championship in blustery conditions.

Helsby FC started slowly and at 15 minutes a free kick to Helsby ended up with the Cestrian player curling a beautiful shot into the top corner of the net.

Helsby were strangely subdued and didn't have their first shot on goal until 30 minutes in.

Cestrians went into half time 1-0 up, but with the strong wind now in Helsby's favour the Green Army just hoped the second half would bring more determination and desire in the team.

And it happened: Helsby were pushing Cestrians back for the first 15 minutes of the second half, with some lovely possession.

However, Cestrians seized two chances and won the game 3-0.

Credit to Cestrians, whose very impressive defence never allowed Helsby to get off the ground.
