Helsby FC are the winners of the West Cheshire League Shield Final 2019/20!

Playing in Crosby against Marine AFC Reserves last night, a "superb performance" from the Green Army saw them win four goals to zero.

"I have lost my voice - what an amazing cup final for Helsby FC against Marine Reserves," said Helsby's Duncan Cowley.

"Helsby started brightly with Marine lunging dangerously into every tackle and losing their discipline at such an early stage of the game .

"A free kick to Helsby after just five minutes saw Lee Turkington curl the ball exquisitely into the net with the keeper stranded predicting the cross.

"The place went wild with the Green Army jumping all over the place - what a start to the game!

"Then yet another free kick on the edge of the box saw Lee shoot the ball under the hapless keeper.

"It's 2-0 with seconds to half time but Lee is now on fire. He had a golden opportunity to wrap up a first half hat trick but fired over.

"Helsby FC came out in the second half and were stunning, simply stunning: every single player was on his A game. From the keeper to the front men, this was an impressive team display.

"Lee swivelled on the edge of the box and crashed the ball into the net to grab a hat trick.

"Helsby were in total control, with Nathan Conlan capitalising on a defensive mistake and slotting the ball home to make it 4-0.

"The goal celebrations were magnificent - something I will never forget.

"Helsby were now in full flow of the final with 30 minutes to go and just had to see the game out. And they did it with ease.

"The defence, controlled by captain Jack Nicholls, were so impressive and didn't let Marines in until the last seconds of the game when Dylan Cross made three great saves.

"Such an amazing game and victory - a personal privilege and honour to be there and to grab a few photos of this special occasion. Helsby FC Shield Champions 2019/2020!!"
