Helsby FC First Team win 3-1 against Poulton Royal Reserves

On a beautiful sunny Saturday (17 April), the resurgent Helsby FC First Team entertained Poulton Royal Reserves who had drawn with League leaders Runcorn Sports this week.

Helsby are currently in sixth place but with five games in hand on some of the league leaders they are just six points behind. The gap is certainly closing every game so every point is now vitally important.

Helsby started well, controlling the game and making a number of chances from direct free kicks.

Nathan then hit the post and it seemed a matter of time before the Poulton net was bulging.

Helsby had two more superb chances but the Poulton keeper was on great form and denied certain goals.

It was still 0-0 at half time but Helsby went into another gear in the second half and the goals started to flow from Nathan Conlan, Lee Turkington and Zak Pearson.

It was now 3-0 and Helsby FC were cruising until a consolation goal by Poulton made the final score 3-1.

What an amazing start to the season by both Helsby FC Teams - some amazing football again by Helsby FC First Team today and there's so much more to come when the lads get some of that match sharpness back after the long break.

The Green Army go marching on and up the league!
