Helsby FC are back!

Helsby's First Team entertained League leaders Marshalls Reserves at the amazing, brand new sports complex and pitch at Callender Way on Saturday.

Helsby FC started well, making chance after chance, but couldn't score. Marshalls hit the post and looked threatening on the break but on the half hour Helsby were given a penalty. Sadly they missed.

Helsby were playing well in the heat - they shot and scored with a deflection into the Marshalls net. It was well deserved and 1-0 to Helsby.

Helsby started the second half in the same vein and scored another deflected shot - it was 2-0 and Marshalls looked down and out. But then a bizarre mix up at the back saw a little chip by Marshalls into the Helsby goal and it was 2-1 with 15 minutes to go.

It was now pretty tense.

Helsby then marauded down their left and a superb cross from the full back sees Lee volley the ball into the net to make it 3-1 and a well deserved victory for Helsby.

It was amazing to watch live sport again and take photos after such a tough third lockdown - a huge thanks to the mass of supporters who turned up to cheer on the lads.

What a day hopefully the first of many many more to come. C'mon Helsby!
