The team at Home Instead Frodsham recently dropped everything to help residents of Weaver Court retirement complex when it was hit by flooding caused by Storm Christoph.

On Thursday, Home Instead Frodsham received a phone call from their neighbouring office in Northwich alerting them that residents of Weaver Court, including two of their clients, have been evacuated to the Best Western Forest Hills Hotel in Frodsham.

Alison Moynihan, co-owner of Home Instead, and Laura Clark, general manager and registered care manager, jumped into action to help support their neighbouring office and the wonderful team from Cheshire West and Chester Council.

Alison and Laura have provided reassurance to residents, organising caregiver care calls and making sure all medication and welfare needs were met.

Alison commented: "Receiving a call that two of your neighbouring office's clients are part of the 49 residents who have been evacuated due to flooding is devastating.

"We knew we had to help in any way we could. Therefore, Laura and I have been working around the clock alongside members of our caregiver team to deliver our outstanding support to residents as required."

Philip Green, social care at Cheshire West Council, said: "This was a challenging situation where we had to move quickly to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the people in our care.

"This was a real team effort and we would like to thank everyone at Home Instead for being part of that team.

"The staff members were responsive to the needs of the residents and they showed a really flexible approach that addressed the needs of individual residents and ensure they had support during this difficult time."

Alison continued: "It has been brilliant to see the local community come together to help each other during such a dreadful time.

"The emergency services and Cheshire West and Chester Council did an admirable job taking residents of the retirement complex to safety, and Cheshire Food Bank delivered individual food packages which is just heart-warming.

"And of course, the team at Forest Hills Hotel have given so much to help keep the residents safe. It has been a pleasure to work alongside all of these kind-hearted people."

Residents were cared for by the carers, hotel staff and the team from Home Instead until their safe return to Weaver Court on Monday afternoon.
