Frodsham Town Council is looking for enthusiastic and committed people to join its councillor team.
The Council currently has seven casual vacancies waiting to be filled, including three on Lakes ward and two on both Castle Park and Waterside ward.

Both the Netherton Hall in Frodsham and the White Lion in Alvanley will be closing early on Sunday so that their staff can go home to watch the Euros final.
Therefore, the pubs will be taking their last food orders at 6pm, and closing the bar at 7:30pm.

It is well known in Frodsham that in amongst all the graves in St Laurence churchyard, along with the Smiths and the Joneses and the Browns, lies an African prince.
Prince Waribo (which is spelt 'Warabo' on his grave inscription), was the son of Jaja, who, after being kidnapped by slave traders aged 12, eventually became the King of Opobo, a city-state in southern Nigeria.

In this week in 1940, Allied soldiers were being hurriedly evacuated from Dunkirk after troops were stranded at the coast during the disastrous Battle of France.
This was also the week that several of the men commemorated on Frodsham and Helsby's War Memorials died in action.

This month marked the 106th anniversary of the sinking of RMS Lusitania, which was torpedoed by German U-boats on 7 May 1915 off the coast of Ireland.
While the disaster killed 1,195 people, among the list of survivors was Frodsham local George Edwards 'Hutch' Hutchinson, who was born in the town in 1888 to Andrew and Mary Hopkins Hutchinson.
Does anyone remember the old George Inn that stood at 25 High Street?
The pub, captured here in the mid twentieth century, had been around since 1911 at least, at which time its landlord was a gentleman called Edmund Coker according to The Lost Pubs Project.
