Recently, while cataloguing their archives, Frodsham and District History Society found a seat rent roll from St Laurence Church, dating from April 12 1784.

This fascinating document, also called a seat register, can tell us a great deal about eighteenth-century Frodsham, as it lists the local people who were wealthy enough to reserve a spot for themselves in church.

Cheshire West and Chester Council have responded to queries raised by residents during a meeting aimed at establishing a project group of local stakeholders to examine options for the future of Frodsham's leisure, library and wellbeing facilities.

In the meeting, which took place on Monday 15 February, the Council invited speakers from local clubs and facilities, including the new Helsby Sports Club, to outline the opportunities and challenges faced by their organisations.

Mobile pizzeria, Dough & Go, have announced that they will now be making regular appearances at Manley Village Hall.

Dough & Go operate across Cheshire, making stone-baked pizzas for more rural communities who might not be within an easy distance of restaurants or takeaways. Since November, they have also been supplying desserts from Frodsham-based business, Cheshire Brownies.

Manley Road Copse looks set to receive a makeover as Frodsham Town Council arrange for maintenance work to be carried out on the site.

At an extraordinary Amenities Committee meeting yesterday (Wednesday 17 March), Councillors agreed that a contractor would be hired to cut the sides and top of the front hedge, remove brambles, ivy and unwanted vegetation and pick up any litter.

While the Local Democracy Reporting Service revealed last week that recycling rates in Cheshire West have fallen over the last five years, it seems that the pandemic has led to a resurgence in local efforts to stop household waste going to landfill.

Figures revealed by Cheshire West and Chester Council show the authority collected an extra 5,000 tonnes of recycling during 2020.
