Two fire engines attended The White Lion pub on Manley Road in Alvanley yesterday evening to extinguish a tumble dryer fire.
Crews used a hose reel to extinguish the flames as customers were evacuated from the premises as a precaution.

Frodsham Town Council is encouraging local over-70s to apply for their 2020 £10 Christmas voucher.
Gift vouchers are offered to Frodsham residents who will be aged 70 or over on 31st January 2021, and can be spent in a range of local independent shops. Alternatively, recipients can donate their gift token to a good cause.
With our newfound summer freedoms being thrown suddenly into question by the spread of new lockdown measures across the country, we might soon be limited once again to picnics and walks in the great outdoors.
How lucky, therefore, that Frodsham marks the beginning of the Sandstone Trail, which provides a varied array of beautiful walks ranging across the county.

I have tried to put the events of exactly 6 months ago well behind me. I have tried to move on with my life, but with a spike and second wave of this virus seemingly imminent, I just feel it's time for us to remember what this virus can do to people.
It's been a bit emotional reading my account of the virus for the first time in 5 months: how a strange fever on March 19th mutated into a virus which could easily have killed me only 14 days later.

Hob Hey Wood is a haven for wildlife of all kinds and contains much to delight human visitors all year round.
Two species of rare butterfly occur here. The purple hairstreak lives on oaks and is rarely seen due to its habit of staying at the tops of the trees. The even rarer white-letter hairstreak lives on elm. Its population was reduced by 90% due to the Dutch elm disease epidemic in the 1970s.

Ex air stewards, Adrian Leary and Paul Jones, are still flying high today, as they welcome their old colleagues to their gifts, interiors and coffee shop, Me & Mr Jones, to mark the anniversary of the collapse of Thomas Cook.
Adrian and Paul wanted to celebrate the sense of community and friendship that has defined their career in the airline industry by offering free coffee and cake to crew members from airlines no longer with us - as long as they are wearing their uniform!
