Ho Ho Helsby is being forced to celebrate Christmas in a different way this year

With coronavirus restrictions preventing gatherings of more than six people outdoors, the Ho Ho Helsby Working Group has been forced to cancel this year's event.

So, eager to keep the Christmas spirit alive, Ho Ho Helsby's organisers are instead inviting residents to 'Stay Safe, Decorate, Light Up Helsby', in a bid to inject the village with some sparkling festive cheer.

MP Mike Amesbury is warning that plans for radical planning reforms could wrest control from local communities

Frodsham could be left 'unrecognizable' if radical planning reforms are forced through by the government.

The town's MP Mike Amesbury, who is also the Shadow Minister for Housing and Planning, says the government plans - which have been branded 'a developers' charter' - would remove powers from elected councillors on local planning committees and hand them over to Whitehall-appointed boards of developers.

Frodsham's coronavirus rate sat at 226.03 last week.

Yesterday (19th October), 116 people tested positive for Covid-19 in Cheshire West, as the Council vowed to 'turn things around' and bring the borough back into tier 1.

In the week leading up to Sunday October 18th, there were 700 new infections in west Cheshire. However, the borough's hospitals have recorded no new coronavirus deaths since October 14th.

This year, with Covid-19 restrictions making indoor and outdoor gatherings virtually impossible, Frodsham's Remembrance Day services will be looking very different.

Instead of the usual wreath laying ceremony at Frodsham Hill war memorial on 11th November, St Laurence's Rev Elaine will be leading a short service along with other ministers and the Town Council.

Cheshire West wants to encourage its older residents to make the most of what the internet has to offer

Cheshire West's Age-Friendly Digital Inclusion group is offering a whole day of online activities to help older residents increase their digital confidence.

The day, coordinated by Cheshire Libraries, includes keeping in touch with people, attending online events and social groups, finding out what's available in the local area and perhaps gaining a new hobby or interest.
