A double header of football today at the new 'Colosseum of Confrontation'.

Helsby FC Reserves played Christleton FC at the new pitch. The rain was still falling when Christleton scored a great goal after just five minutes.

However, Helsby replied almost immediately with a shot into the corner of the goal. The Green Army then started to stroke the ball around and looked mighty impressive, with Gary really pulling the strings.

Loc Stanier then began to have "pop after pop" at goal and it seemed just a matter of time for Helsby to add further goals.

The game went into the second half and Helsby were playing some beautiful football with style and panache.

Then a shot from distance saw the ball bounce off the keeper and Helsby slotted the rebound home.

It was 2-1 but the game still wasn't still "put to bed" until the keeper fumbled an easy cross to make it 3-1 to Helsby FC Reserves.

A superb performance by the Reserves and a real battle for places with both teams playing very well today - the Green army go marching on together!
