Frodsham Cricket Club Sunday XI's won their last game of the season on Sunday

Frodsham Sunday XI's season ended with a beautiful September afternoon and a wonderful game of cricket at Runcorn CC on September 13th. It was the annual Matt Shaw Memorial Trophy 30-over game.

Runcorn batted first, with Matt Williamson 51* and Jim Morrell 38*, playing really well and captain Steve Bebbington hitting a huge 6 from the last ball to see them finish up on 143-5.

Frodsham bowled and fielded well with Jack McGrogan 4-16, Mikey Connolly 1-23, Matt Deakin 0-22 and Charlie Ball 0-17 keeping it tight. Frodsham CC also held 5 great catches.

In reply Frodsham got off to a decent start with Nick Corless, Roger London, Bren Connolly, and Rob Kent, but at 79-6 it was looking like a win for Runcorn.

Then, Mikey Connolly 51* and Jack McGrogan 21* put together a most superb, thrilling run-chase to win the cup for Frodsham, with a partnership of 64 and just 2 balls left in the final over of the game.

Mikey retired at 51 to leave Charlie Ball to score the winning runs. A wonderful end to the season.
