If you're interested in keeping Frodsham's local community spaces looking neat, tidy and inviting, you might want to get involved with the Frodsham Station adoption team.
Created by North Cheshire Rail Users Group and Transport for Wales, this group of volunteers looks after the station gardens and floral displays, winning various awards over the years for their work.
'Team Briggs' (Janet and Philip) have, after many years of tending the gardens at Frodsham and keeping the station area a tidy and colourful welcome to Frodsham, decided to call it a day.
Transport for Wales have agreed that volunteers can now resume their station-related activities in line with Covid guidelines, and will support anyone wishing to join a station adoption team with tools, plants and compost available and also rail travel vouchers.
These comprise £100 per annum per station team but rise to £400 for teams of 3 or greater.
New recruits must observe a couple of formalities, including basic safety training and regular reports, but satisfaction of making a difference, all for an hour or so a week, could be an attractive proposition for someone wanting regular fresh air along with some gentle activity.
If you want to get involved with station adoption please contact the NCRUG Chair Mark Warren (t: 07979 513205; e: [email protected]) and he will put you in touch with the TfW Volunteer Manager who can provide more information on volunteering at our stations.
