Since lockdown eased on April 12 it has been great to see new businesses popping up all around Frodsham, including Luna Beauty, which opened last week at Castle Park.

Offering treatments such as eyebrow tinting, manicures, pedicures, gel nails and waxing, as well as facials and a variety of massages, Luna Beauty aims to create a relaxing spa experience that will both soothe and energise your body and mind.

Luna Beauty was founded by beauty therapist, Annette Williamson Hunt, who trained with and worked for Clarins at Chester's Debenhams store until its closure was announced in January.

"That definitely pushed me in the right direction towards starting my own business," Annette says, "as one door closed, another opened! I thought: my children are older now, I live very close by and this is something I need to do.

"I love being at Castle Park with the shops and the Arts Centre: there's a lovely atmosphere here. I couldn't ask for a nicer place to be starting my own little business.

"Since last week I've been really busy: I never expected to have as many customers as I have had!

"I'm very lucky that – having been born and bred in Frodsham – I know a lot of local people who have all been very supportive of Luna Beauty so far."

Now that coronavirus restrictions are lifting and people eager to make the most of the summer months, Annette has begun offering Luna Beauty vouchers, helping her clients to buy a special experience for family and friends. A loyalty card scheme might also be in the pipeline, so keep an eye out for that!

Although Annette has worked in a range of different sectors in the past, she is happiest when bringing a smile to her clients' faces through the power of massage and beauty therapies.

"I'm very empathic and I like to make people feel better," she says. "You might come in feeling stressed, tired or just a bit off, but a massage can do you the world of good."

Using vegan products, Annette practices a gentle form of lymphatic drainage massage, employing a light and delicate touch to help remove toxins from the body. This type of therapy can benefit people with conditions such as lymphedema or fibromyalgia.

"Quite apart from the physical relaxation of massage, I also have a lot of customers who just really appreciate the one-on-one time that I can give them, and I love that being able to help in that way," Annette adds.

Finally, if you wanted to take the relaxing atmosphere of Luna Beauty home with you, Annette also offers a range of Simply Self-Care scented wax melts and candles.

Luna Beauty is currently open on Mondays and Saturdays 9:30am-5:30pm and Fridays 9:30am-8pm.
