Frodsham Town Council Planning Committee have yesterday (Monday) objected to an application to use part of the Lady Heyes Caravan Site for 10 static caravans.
The caravans would be used "for holiday accommodation", replacing 12 campervan and touring pitches on the site and not encroaching on the surrounding Green Belt land.
Commenting on the proposal, Cllr Phil Griffiths pointed out that it was a resubmission of a similar plan which had previously been opposed by Frodsham Town Council and eventually withdrawn.
He added that the Town Council had objected on the grounds that: "it was unsightly, and also the access is straight onto a main road with a 50 miles per hour speed limit, so it's a risky area to be encouraging more traffic."
"The other thing is that, because these are static caravans, they could be used by contractors even though they are not supposed to be. So, we objected last time and I propose we object again."
The other members of the Committee agreed unanimously with this suggestion.
Meanwhile, Councillors chose to approve an application to convert unused office space on the first and second floors of 105, Main Street into living accommodation.
The two flats, which would sit above Artisan Green restaurant, would each have two bedrooms.
Speaking in favour of the application, Cllr Griffiths said: "Current government guidelines say that if you have commercial properties that are no longer in use it's a good idea to convert them to housing anyway. I don't see any problem with it."
"If it's going to sit empty it might as well provide some sort of housing," Cllr Ryan McKeown added.
Both applications must now await a decision from Cheshire West and Chester Council.
