The lockdown rule changes coming into effect tomorrow

Tomorrow (Monday 29 March) is one of the key dates in the government's roadmap out of lockdown.

This date is the second step in the first phase of rule relaxations, following the reopening of schools, wraparound childcare and children's activities on Monday 8 March.

Since this date, care home residents have also been allowed one regular visitor, provided they are tested and wear PPE.

Now in this latest unfurling of the relaxation roadmap, outdoor gatherings of either six people or two households will be allowed, providing greater flexibility for families to see each other. This includes in private gardens.

Outdoor sports facilities, such as tennis and basketball courts, will be allowed to reopen, and people can take part in formally organised outdoor sports.

As part of this local residents will finally be able to use the 3G pitch, tennis courts and bowling green at Helsby Community Sports Club's new clubhouse. To find out more about bookings, click here.

Frodsham JFC and training will resume at Helsby High School while Helsby RUFC adult, U9 and U10 sessions will begin at the new Sports Club facility.

In early April, Helsby FC will also be able to begin playing fixtures again.

Monday is also the point at which the government's 'stay at home' order will end, although many other lockdown restrictions will remain for now.

For example, you should continue to work from home where possible, and overseas travel remains banned, aside for a small number of reasons.

In addition, travel across the Welsh border is still only allowed for essential reasons such as work, education or health.

Although Welsh residents are now allowed to book self-contained holiday accommodation and visit libraries, outdoor historical attractions and gardens, this does not apply to people living across the border, who are being encouraged to stick to their own borough.
