The Daniel Adamson, or 'Danny' steamship will celebrate its return to the waterways by hosting a special Abandon Normal Devices Festival event this summer.

From Friday 9 until Sunday 11 July, The Danny will be hosting 'By the Sound of Things', an immersive, audiovisual experience created by Kate Davies.

As they step onboard the steamship, the audience will be invited to hear and feel the sounds of the modern shipping industry, as they consider the impact of this marine traffic on ocean ecosystems.

You can read more about the event here.

The Abandon Normal Devices Festival runs between 27 May and 11 July, exploring the post-industrial landscapes of the Manchester Ship Canal and River Mersey through in-person and virtual performances, augmented reality adventures, workshops, films and 'field trips'.

The Danny arrived back in Sutton Weaver last week following an extended stay in Liverpool for the duration of the pandemic.

Over the summer, it will be offering a variety of different cruises between Acton Bridge and Ellesmere Port.
