Frodsham Town Council Planning Committee has responded enthusiastically to a planning application to turn a disused Main Street building into a hospitality venue and residential unit.

The application proposes that the old HSBC bank, located at 86 Main Street, be converted into a 50 cover restaurant, with one two-bedroom flat on the first floor.

As the committee discussed the plans, Cllr Ryan McKeown said: "I think it will be good. Hopefully it will bring in some more jobs and more people into the town, helping us to regenerate post Covid."

Cllr Phil Griffiths added: "That property has been empty for quite some time now, so it's good to see someone taking an interest in using it."

Chair, Bill Stockton, concluded: "I thoroughly agree with the rest of the committee. I think it would be a great addition on the main street, which would bring more footfall, more activity and more convivial get-togethers to the bank, as was!"

The application will now go to Cheshire West and Chester Council for approval.

A prior application to subdivide the ground floor into two shops and/or restaurants was approved in 2019, but never acted upon.
