A planning application seeking to change office space inside Castle Park House into a school has been approved by Cheshire West and Chester Council.
The application proposes the creation of a community hub element of Ancora House School, which is located near the Countess of Chester Hospital.
Ancora House School also provides temporary or long-term education for children and young people in Cheshire West who cannot access their mainstream school because of their medical needs.
The Ancora House School Hub would be located in the ground floor of Castle Park House, which is currently vacant, and the approval stipulates that no more than 30 children would be registered on the school roll at any one time.
A report attached to the application stated that: "The school would specifically be used as a small scale, bespoke school for children and young people who cannot attend school due to physical and mental health.
"The individuals would be in very small classes, supporting their reintegration back into mainstream education."
The small class sizes will hopefully reduce the chance of any noise disturbance to the offices on the first floor, or to people using the surrounding park.
Most of the children would arrive and depart in taxis, meaning that the presence of the school would not impact the accessibility of existing parking facilities at Castle Park.
