Five fire crews attended a blaze in a house on Wayford Close yesterday at 3 pm.

Crews from Widnes, Runcorn, Penketh, Lymm and Chester, along with an aerial appliance from Chester, were called to the semi-detached house, where the fire was quickly spreading to the next door property.

Before the fire engines arrived, the fire had also damaged a number of vehicles parked outside the house, and it is thought that it is thought that it was started by the car parked in the garage attached to the property.

Four fire fighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the property to try and tackle the blaze using hose reel jets.

The fire was brought until control around 4:45 pm, with crews still continuing to fight the fire with hose reel jets after this time.

Police were also in attendance at the incident, cordoning off the area as a safety precaution.

All of the occupants of the two properties are believed to be accounted for and two people have been treated for smoke inhalation.
