The big day has arrived. From today (Monday), non-essential shops, hairdressers and beauty salons can open their doors, and hospitality venues can welcome customers to their outdoor spaces once again.
There was a lot of cheerful activity in Frodsham this morning, where queues for No.5 the Barbers, Teko's the Turkish Barbers and Paul's Barber Shop – to name but a few – stretching back down the street!
Several people were sitting outside Main Street and Church Street cafés, enjoying the sunshine. We popped in to say hello to Catherine, Elaine and Gwen in Food at 27, who were "so happy" to be reopening for takeaways and outdoor seating.
Food at 27 is open from 8am until 2pm, serving hot breakfasts, sandwiches, soups and their new cheese and bacon muffins!
Paul and Ade at Me & Mr Jones were also delighted to be welcoming customers back into their station-side store at 10am.
"When we closed on Christmas Eve we had no idea that we would all soon find ourselves in over three more months of national lockdown," they said.
"Happily we've been able to remain open throughout for takeout coffee & cake (as well as our much-talked-about hot chocolate!), plus Click & Collect.
"We've embraced our Instagram and Facebook accounts during this time - working really hard to increase our followers and engagement to ensure we are at the front of people's minds in advance of reopening.
"The last few weeks have seen us dismantle the entire store then rebuild it from scratch to give it a totally fresh, boutique feel, which we are certain everyone is going to love.
"We're convinced that Me & Mr Jones has never looked so good!
"To every local business able to open their doors again from April 12 - it's been a long time coming and we wish you every success. To indoor hospitality businesses who have to wait a little longer - your day is coming! We certainly can't wait to start dining out again..."
Up at Lady Heyes, antiques and crafts shops including Browsers Bazaar, Candles Plus, Boffey's Emporium, Hampton and Cheshire Vintage and Delamere Cabinet Makers were back in business.
Meanwhile, their neighbour, the Vintage Teapot Tearoom, was ready to serve its breakfasts, afternoon teas, snacks and drinks to customers enjoying the sweeping Cheshire views of its balcony and outdoor seating area.
Now we're just counting down the minutes until 12pm, when many of Frodsham's pubs and restaurants will be opening their beer gardens and outdoor tables for their first diners and drinkers since December!
