Frodsham Festival of Walks Chair, Cllr Caroline Ashton, is inviting residents to join in with the Great Walk Together by planning a local walk for Sunday 20 June.
The Great Walk Together forms part of the Great Get Together 2021, an initiative of the Jo Cox Foundation which aims to bring people together to celebrate new connections and Jo's #MoreInCommon message.
This year's event, which runs between 18 and 20 June, marks the fifth anniversary of Jo's murder, as well as Refugee Week, an annual festival celebrating the contributions, creativity and resilience of refugees and people seeking sanctuary, whose 2021 theme is 'We Cannot Walk Alone'.
Organising a Great Walk Together with friends, neighbours or indeed strangers is the perfect way to both encourage new community connections and reflect on the journeys that refugees face.
These walks can be organised by anyone, whether you play a central role in community life or have never planned such an event before.
For more information, visit the Great Get Together website and download a Walk Organising Toolkit.
Cllr Ashton has also suggested that local residents might want to use one of the downloadable self-led walks from the Frodsham Festival of Walks as their route.
You can read more about the event on the Frodsham Town Council website.
