Frodsham Festival of Walks is back and is doing things differently this year. The Festival runs throughout May, national walking month, with eight self-led walks varying in length from one to ten miles.

The theme of the Festival of Walks is #RediscoverWhereYouLive. The walks focus on Frodsham, Helsby and lower reaches of the River Weaver.

They highlight the heritage and landscapes of the area, including some lesser-known treasures within the ancient borough of Frodsham.

A new website has maps and clear directions which can be printed at home or accessed from mobile phones.

For the longer walks, GPX files can be downloaded onto smart devices.

The organisers hope walkers will share photos, sketches and poems inspired by their expeditions on the Frodsham Festival of Walks' Facebook and Instagram pages.

Frodsham Festival of Walks Chair Caroline Ashton thanks the Woodland Trust, Sandstone Ridge Trust, Hob Hey Friends Group and others who contributed walks and ideas.

This year's Festival is dedicated to Joe Beswick (1931-2020), a keen fell runner, footpath warden, and outdoor enthusiast. Joe loved to encourage others to enjoy healthy open-air activities.
