Today, Thursday 6 May, is the big day. English local elections that had been postponed last year due to Covid-19 are now taking place, with votes for 143 councils and 39 Police and Crime Commissioners.
In Frodsham, residents are voting for a new Police and Crime Commissioner and town councillor for Waterside ward.
The people of Frodsham will also be choosing a new borough councillor to join Cllr Lynn Riley, in an election that could tip the balance of power within Cheshire West and Chester Council.
Within the Council, there are 34 Labour councillors, 28 Conservatives, three Independents, two Liberal Democrats and a Green Party councillor (Paul Bowers for Helsby). This means that no one party has overall control as the Council is split evenly between the largest group and members from other parties.
Therefore, the results of the borough council elections in Frodsham and Neston could occasion an important change within the administration.
Polling stations are open until 10pm tonight, with the counts beginning tomorrow afternoon (7 May). The results are expected to be announced in the early evening.
If you are yet to go and vote, please remember to wear a face covering when inside the polling station, and to take your own pen or pencil with you.
