Frodsham Heroes: Helen Watson and the new Saltworks committee

By The Editor

2nd Jun 2021 | Local News

Our Frodsham Hero for this week is Waterside resident, Helen Watson, who has been working tirelessly over recent weeks and months to make Saltworks Farm Playing Fields an inclusive and welcoming place for the whole community to enjoy.

As well as engaging with young people who use the park, Helen, along with other local residents, has pushed repeatedly for its skate park lights to be fixed so that the area can be used safely after dark during the winter months.

Today (Friday), it seems that an engineer visited Saltworks to repair the floodlights, which have been switched off for six years.

Helen has also started running a regular Saltworks Kindness Café, along with Teddy Bears' Picnics for local children.

Through these initiatives, she has helped to foster mutual respect between Saltworks' different users, contributing to the reduction in antisocial behaviour that has been reported by Frodsham Police this week.

Helen's efforts have led to the foundation of a Saltworks committee, who will now work to develop the space and secure funding for further community projects.

Thank you to Helen and to all the other local people who have given their time to protect and nurture Saltworks as a place for everyone to enjoy!

If you know of a local hero that you would like to celebrate, please email [email protected] with your nomination.
