Frodsham by-elections: Cheshire West encourages residents to consider postal vote option

Last week it was confirmed that local elections in England will take place as planned on 6 May, despite concerns surrounding Covid-19.

This means that Frodsham's Lakes and Waterside residents will be invited to vote in by-elections called for these wards.

Cheshire West and Chester Council's Returning Officer, Andrew Lewis, has since assured residents that 'extensive and detailed' plans are being put in place to make voting as safe as possible.

He also urged every voter to consider the option of a postal vote, which can be secured by emailing [email protected] or calling 01244 977084.

The Council will soon be contacting all electors for whom it has an email address, along with all those defined as clinically extremely vulnerable to Covid-19, to give further details of postal vote registration.

"These elections are taking place in difficult times, but we are determined that Covid-19 will not take away anyone's right to vote," Mr Lewis said.

If you receive any communication about elections and you are unsure if it is legitimate you can contact the Council's Democratic Services team on 01244 977084.
