If you are registered with a GP in Frodsham, Helsby or Elton, you can now access help and guidance from a team of link workers, who are there to strengthen care provision in our communities.
In this article, we introduce you to Kay Foster, your local Bereavement Support Link Worker.
Kay works with people aged 18 or over who have been bereaved within the last 12 months, and who are in need of additional support.
"I have over 30 years' experience of working with people," says Kay, whose background in mental health provision includes support worker and charity roles.
"More recently, while working as a Social Prescribing Link Worker, I have supported people with difficult and challenging issues," she adds.
Over the course of her career, Kay has "gained a tremendous amount of knowledge and experience."
"I am passionate about helping people who have recently been bereaved by providing the right support, both practically and emotionally.
"I am compassionate and empathic and feel I have the right skills and knowledge to help people through this difficult time.
What assistance can Kay provide?
Through her link worker service, Kay gives advice and information to those who have recently lost a loved one and who need help finding support. By signposting community services offering assistance with matters including social isolation, financial and work pressures and housing queries, Kay can help you manage the many practical concerns created by a bereavement. "I can also offer emotional support and a listening ear in your own home or at your GP surgery," she adds. If you feel that you would benefit from this service, please contact your GP surgery. Kay's bereavement support work is a non-medical service delivered by Primary Care Cheshire.
