Frodsham and Helsby's weekly coronavirus round-up

There were 31 new confirmed Covid cases in Frodsham last week.
There were 31 new confirmed Covid cases in Frodsham last week.

In the week commencing 28th September, Cheshire West and Chester Council recorded 7 positive Covid-19 cases amongst Frodsham residents, and 6 in Helsby.

In the previous week, there were 14 new infections in Frodsham, and 4 in Helsby.

These new cases put Frodsham's weekly rate at 74, and Helsby's at 120 per 100,000 residents.

Meanwhile, in Gowy Rural there were 13 recorded infections last week, while in Sandstone there were five.

Chester is the most affected area in the borough, with 30 people testing positive in the Chester City and Garden Ward, 21 in Newton and Hoole, 11 in Handbridge and 12 in Great Boughton.

In an Outbreak Board meeting on Friday, the Council reported that the borough's overall Covid rate was 69 per 100,000 people, and was rising with each passing day.

Cheshire West is now an 'area of concern' on the government watchlist and the Council are waiting to hear whether ministers will agree to introduce additional restrictions to the borough.
