KM Barbershop on Main Street was last night (Monday 5 April) the scene of a fire believed locally to have been caused by a petrol bomb.
Shortly before 8.30pm firefighters from Runcorn, Warrington and Sandbach were notified of the fire, and attended the scene along with the police.
Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the unoccupied premises, evacuating the upstairs flat and isolating the electricity supply.
Firefighters extinguished the fire with a hose reel jet. A covering jet was also set up.
Once the fire looked to be out firefighters made sure that it had not spread beyond the shop, using a large fan to clear smoke from the building.
The road was closed by the police whilst firefighters worked at the scene.
Firefighters were in attendance for more than an hour and a half.
An investigation into the cause of the fire has begun, the area has been cordoned off and police were still in attendance this morning (Tuesday 6 April).
It does not appear that anyone was hurt during the incident.
