In the week before indoor socialising was allowed to return in England, coronavirus case numbers remained largely stable in Frodsham and Helsby.
The seven days leading up to 13 May saw three new cases recorded in Frodsham, which marked a slight rise from the 'suppressed' Covid rates of the previous month. The rolling infection rate now sits at 32.7 per 100,000.
Meanwhile, in Helsby, Kingsley, Manley and Alvanley, there were fewer than three cases reported for the fifth week in a row, as was the case in all of our neighbouring areas, including Elton, Sutton Weaver, Weston, Crowton and Hapsford.
If we broaden our gaze to the rest of Cheshire West, we see that the place experiencing the highest number of new cases is Vicars Cross & Hoole East, where there were eight infections in that seven day period.
That figure equates to one fifth of the total for the whole borough, where case rates have risen slightly from 9.6 to 11.7 per 100,000.
According to Public Health England, there were no positive tests results in west Cheshire yesterday (Tuesday 18 May), and for the second week running, no new Covid-positive patients had been admitted to The Countess of Chester Hospital in the seven days up to May 9.
As of 13 May, 652,675 vaccination doses had been administered in the Cheshire NHS Clinical Commissioning Group area, and 64 per cent of 40 to 44-year-olds had been inoculated against the virus.
