In the week leading up to July 1, 22 coronavirus cases were recorded in Frodsham, marking an increase of 69 per cent on the previous week and making for a rate of 240 per 100,000 people.

While rates were rising in Frodsham, they were falling for its neighbours in Helsby, Kingsley, Alvanley and Manley, where 17 people tested positive in that same week.

This represented a drop of 21 on the previous seven day period, and resulted in a rolling infection rate of 183 per 100,000.

The rates for Frodsham and Helsby are still below the Cheshire West and Chester and national averages of 264 and 244 per 100,000 people.

In general, Cheshire West's infection rate is still on the rise, having increased by 22.5 per cent last week. The borough has a higher incidence of Covid than its neighbours in Wales and Cheshire East, although its rolling rate remains below those of Halton, Warrington and Wirral.

Vaccinations

Last week, new data from Public Health England showed that 85 per cent of Frodsham's and 88 per cent of Helsby & Kingsley's adult residents had received their first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.

Both of these figures have risen by one per cent in the last week, with the proportion of second doses following suit.
